Maki Goto’s Provocative New Side

Maki Goto has been intriguing many J-Pop fans with her comeback promotions, not only because of her new album covers, which divided her fans into love and hate, but to make matters even more controversial, Maki’s shoot for GLAMOROUS revelead an entirely different side of her that some fans find extremely beautiful, while others find it none other than suggestive and indecent.

Some people came up to me asking what I thought about the shoot, and I have to agree with the side of the fans who find it very beautiful. I think Maki is in a point of her career right now that she’s feeling very exposed, starting afresh, having to deal with the death of a loved one . . . This photoshoot only exposes her further, (as the title also suggests: 後藤真希 Reborn), and her upcoming mini-album will be that first step she’s taking as a woman into the industry. Even though I find it a little premature, I don’t see it as the least bit inappropriate, I think she looks beautiful.

Maki’s idol image is completely left behind now. Her childish charms are nowhere in sight in this photoshoot, and even though she’s posed for some provocative photobooks (though not as much as the ones for GLAMOROUS) in the past, she always had that look of a child, which she’s completely stripped from presently.

I always admire acts of courage and exposure and Maki really impressed me! It’s harder for me to understand this new side of her because it’s so abrupt and out of her current concept, even if it is very appealing, and I’m not sure about the reasoning behind it, because I haven’t read any declarations of the inspiration for the photoshoot, but I’m happy that many of the fans respect this shoot, despite the revolted ones, since Maki is one of the stars who earned the most respect from the female Japanese audience, and I wouldn’t want her to lose that trust. Maki makes the photographs look very artistic and inspirational without making it look vulgar and forced. That’s what I really admire about her and her work. She can be just as attractive to a female audience as a male audience, and hopefully this brings her all success she aspires to earn, because she’s playing all her cards right!

I can’t wait to see better scans of the pictures, because I find them very tasteful and beautiful, and if Maki truly is looking for something more mature and artistic for her image, she’s definitely going down the right path. Besides, a little bit of controversy never hurt anybody when it comes to music, and getting into the minds of people who still live inside a box and can’t see nudity as art is always something fun to do as well.

Bring on the new era, Maki! ♥ ~

Tots agree with this photoshoot being nothing less than beautiful photography. <3

It is kind of abrupt and unexpected as you said, although not a total surprise to me since her image during her last days in H!P was very slutty. If she were still in H!P, these kinds of photoshoots would be a lot dirtier and with clothes, so I'm glad that she's been able to make herself ~classier~.

Here's hoping MEG takes notes. Kago Ai is forgivable though since I can't hate her.

Yeah, definitely, H!P can kill art when they want to @_@ Some of her bikini shots of the past are very tasteless, ranging from the quality of the set to how uncomfortable she must’ve felt shooting such pictures at such a young age. Now I can feel her confidence, and it makes a world of difference.

Now she’s doing more of what she wants and shaping her own image, which must feel very liberating to her ~ A nude shoot must’ve felt extremely natural and innocent.

I’m no artist but I do have the eyes of one if you know what I mean…. when I look at this picture I understand it on a deep level. This picture with the word reborn makes me think about her coming back stronger after suffering the pain of losing a loved one.
